3rd Sunday Intergenerational Conversation with Mark Denbeaux

Sunday, October 18, 2015 - 9:45am

Come explore our country's civil rights background with Professor Mark Denbeaux who participated in the Selma to Montgomery march.  In preparation we encourage you to read Mark's story The Selma march and the fascinating story behind an iconic photo by Di Ionno.

Mark will also speak during worship on the intersection between BlackLivesMatter and Islamophobia as well as lead an afternoon workshop at 2:00, entitled “Racial Justice -Why it matters and why white people should care .”

Mark is a 1965 College of Wooster graduate, founder of the Wooster/Orrville NAACP Chapter, and Director of the Seton Hall Law School Center for Policy and Research, best known for its dissemination of the internationally recognized series of reports on the Guantánamo Bay Detention Camp.  Mark also participated in the Selma to Montgomery march.

Hope to see you at 9:45 in The Lounge with questions for Mark as one of Westminster's strengths is in being a multi-generational family of faith. Our families value the influence of caring, questioning, faithful adults in their children’s lives. Members and friends of the congregation appreciate the opportunities for all ages to connect at Westminster and become sojourners in faith.

3rd Sunday Intergenerational Conversations brings together a mix of teens, young adults, and older adults as we explore our faith together in the midst of community and give expression to our identity rooted in peacemaking and following the ways of Jesus of Nazareth.
