Worship

Sunday, April 30, 2017 - 10:45am

Address:
Westminster Presbyterian Church, Mackey Hall
353 E. Pine St.
Wooster, OH 44691

Today we welcome in worship students, parents, and teachers from Our Lady of Pompeii School in New York City. Our Lady of Pompeii is a Catholic School rooted in the compassionate love of the Heart of Christ, and promotes academic excellence in an atmosphere that nourishes the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical, and moral development of each child.

The choir is conducted by Mr. Curtis Gomes who worships with Westminster during the summer and is the son of the late Annetta L. Gomez-Jefferson (1927 - 2009). From 1974 to her retirement in 1995, Professor Gomez-Jefferson was a member of the faculty at The College of Wooster, where in 1982, she was asked to develop and chair a theatre department. Mr. Gomes and his choirs have been visiting Westminster since 1979. Their annual visit is a highlight for Westminster!

We invite you to join us in worship that promises to be warm, welcoming, and accepting.  At Westminster we give voice to a progressive Christianity drawing from our Presbyterian heritage and strive to create a safe place for all people to explore their faith, regardless of ethnicity, creed, age, cultural background, or sexual identity. We seek to give authentic expression to our faith as it relates to our daily lives and contemporary culture.  Our worship is made relevant through sermons, prayers, music, readings (biblical, ancient and contemporary), guest speakers, and participation from the congregation.  In our desire to be welcoming and inclusive we have an all gender restroom that is handicap accessible on the same level as our worship space.
