Peace Products

At Westminster we believe that we can make a difference with what we buy and the products we use.  To this end, Westminster’s Middle East Peace Initiative actively supports products that empower the people of Palestine. To that end, we offer olive oil soap for purchase, made by villagers of Zababdeh, Palestine, where we have a sister church, St. George Melchite Greek Church.

Westminster also offers olive oil for purchase in partnership with Import Peace and Caanan Fair Trade. The mission of the latter is explained at its website as copied below:
Canaan Fair Trade uses the fair trade concept to empower marginalized Palestinian rural communities caught in conflict so they can sustain their livelihoods and culture. To that end, we have built direct working relationships with these communities, paying sustainable prices for their agricultural products to ensure fair wages for labor along the supply chain.

The offering of these products is done with the spirit of our Missions firmly in mind as stated from the inspiration of the prophet Micah:
To do justice we will act in solidarity with and speak on behalf of peoples deprived of their human rights, dispossessed of material well being and suffering from violence;
To love kindness we will provide assistance to the weary, hungry and broken; and work for peace and reconciliation in the world; and
To walk humbly with God we will venerate the earth and its bounty and will strive for equitable sharing and sustainability of God’s world with all peoples - locally, nationally and internationally.
