Address:
Westminster Presbyterian Church, Mackey Hall
353 E. Pine St.
Wooster, OH 44691

Join us on Sunday at 10;45 am for worship as we welcome Iris, to learn more about the work of Planned Parenthood, to show our support as Christians, and to educate ourselves about the challenges we face in protecting the human rights of all, including reproductive rights.

As a congregation striving to offer sanctuary for all people to worship, regardless of gender, ethnicity, creed, age, cultural background or sexual orientation, Westminster believes it is vital to protect the human rights of all people. We are specifically concerned with how the global gag rule will affect global partnerships. With the political assault on reproductive rights accelerating, nationally and internationally, Westminster affirms its wholehearted support in protection of women and their access to reproductive health care. To learn more about the work of Planned Parenthood, to show our support as Christians, and to educate ourselves about the challenges we face in protecting the human rights of all, Westminster welcomes Iris E. Harvey, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio (PPGOH) and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio (PPAO).

Iris has served on the PPGOH Board of Directors since 2011, and was board chair in 2015. She brings more than 25 years of organizational leadership in the public and private sectors. She comes to Planned Parenthood from Kent State University where she was the vice president for university relations.

A native of New Jersey, Iris has been a resident of Ohio for a decade. Her volunteer service includes board membership with a diverse group of nonprofit organizations including United Way of Portage County, SummaHealth Foundation, Area Agency on Aging-Direction Home, ACE Ohio Women's Network, Main Street Kent, and Western Reserve Public Media. For her leadership and service Iris was recognized by Crain’s Cleveland Business for the 2014 class of "Women of Note;" as a "Women of Power"honoree by the Akron Urban League; as a "Humanitarian in Education" by the Harold B. Stubbs organization; as a finalist for the ATHENA Leadership award; and inducted into the Marketing Hall of Femme by the Direct Marketing Association. Harvey is a Fulbright Scholar and Ford Foundation Scholar. She earned her B.S. in business administration and MBA degrees from the University of Southern California. She also holds an Ed.S. degree from The George Washington University.

Worship at Westminster promises to be warm, welcoming, and accepting.  At Westminster we give voice to a progressive Christianity drawing from our Presbyterian heritage and strive to create a safe place for all people to explore their faith, regardless of ethnicity, creed, age, cultural background, or sexual identity. We seek to give authentic expression to our faith as it relates to our daily lives and contemporary culture.  Our worship is made relevant through sermons, prayers, music, readings (biblical, ancient and contemporary), guest speakers, and participation from the congregation.  In our desire to be welcoming and inclusive we have an all gender restroom that is handicap accessible on the same level as our worship space.
