Service of Grief, Protest, and Pursuit of Change

Monday, July 11, 2016 - 7:00pm

The Wooster/Orrville NAACP invites you to join in a “Service of Grief, Protest, and Pursuit of Change” on Monday night, July 11 at 7:00pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 353 East Pine Street, Wooster, OH 44691.

As we grieve for the lives of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, who are the latest among a long list of publicized and unjustified killings by law enforcement officers in the United States, we also grieve for the senseless execution of five police officers in Dallas, TX by a lone gunman at a peaceful Black Lives Matter protest march.

It is in the face of violence and brutality that we denounce violence and renew our own efforts to eradicate the cause of these deplorable deaths, which is racism. Now is the time for us as a community to stand together and eradicate racism and systemic oppression in our nation by starting in our own community of Wooster, OH.

We invite all churches, community partners, and individuals to join us for this “Service of Grief, Protest, and Pursuit of Change”.  If you are interested in participating please call Darion Stanford, who will provide the music, at stanford.darion@yahoo.com or  Andries Coetzee, Pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church, at acoetzee@wooster.edu.
