Immigration Reform

back to homepage

Many in our congregation supported the Sanctuary Movement in the 1980s, when faith communities, universities, and other organizations rallied to advocate on behalf of thousands of refugees fleeing persecution in Central America. BorderLinks grew out of the Sanctuary Movement, and Westminster has sent delegates to BorderLinks since the earliest years of the organization. Our BorderLinks experience has led to our focus on immigration advocacy.

The Westminster Presbyterian Church BorderLinks Peace Initiative works for justice for immigrants through support of immigration reform, education, and advocacy at both national and local levels. Our church peace initiative encourages members to think nationally and work locally in support of immigration advocacy.
